Conversion

You will need to put a smart label on every item within the library or collection. This is the most time consuming part of the solution, programming the labels (see below) can be done in a matter of seconds.

Conversion is the process of placing the bibliographical information onto the smart label. The amount of information put on the smart label is determined by the library. Perhaps only the barcode information is required, or for more functionality, full bibliographic details can be included.

The conversion process can be done either by:

	Data download - you provide us with a download of your entire library catalogue and we create a piece of conversion software tailor-made with all the fields you have specified. When you scan the item's barcode, the software will populate the item's bibliographical information area automatically and programme the ORFID label
	Data entry - staff scan the item's barcode and where additional data is required it is manually input
	Via an online SIP2 connection - this is by far the most convenient option for the library to use as there is a direct link from the ORFID software to the library management system and all the bibliographical details can be retrieved direct from the host system by the press of a button.
