Security System

The ORFID security antennas provide libraries with a means of fully protecting their stock and they work in conjunction with the ORFID smart labels. The antennas are very similar in design to current EM and RF security systems, which increases their visual presence and in turn helps to reduce stock loss. The antennas can be set as single, dual or multiple aisle configurations with aisle widths of approximately 110cm.

When an item has been successfully issued, either at a self-service unit or a staff station, the security element of the ORFID label is deactivated ensuring the user can pass through the ORFID antennas without the system alarming.

Where an item has not been successfully issued the security element of the ORFID label remains active and will cause the antennas to activate when the item is passed between them. The antennas have an audible and visual alarm.

The system can be set up in one of two modes:

	EAS - where the security system only looks for a single security setting on the smart label and activates an audible and visual alarm to alert staff
	Server linked - where the security system is linked to the host library system and interrogates each tag that passes through and references it against their library record, alarming when an unissued item is read
