Within the ORFID range we can supply, as standard, a fixed height pod (which is available in junior, as well as standard design) and an adjustable desk version. If appropriate we can also utilise an existing piece of furniture and install the unit within it.
All units come with the capability to issue, renew and return multiple or single items, with the functionality completely controlled by the customer. The units will also allow users to check their borrower information to see what items they have on hold, what they owe in ways of fines, etc. Where fines are outstanding the units can be configured to allow users to pay these off.
The pod comes with two integral return bins which are locked in place. A choice of colours is available. In addition, for self-returns, an external unit is available allowing 24 hours returns and even remote returns e.g. a railway station. This unit has a touch screen interface and issues a receipt to the user on completion of their transactions.
Sortation Unit
Where the ORFID system comes into its own is with the use of a Book Conveyer Sortation Unit. The smart label can ensure that the library item is sorted into the correct predefined return bin, greatly reducing the time spent by library staff organising the items by hand and thus ensuring the items are back on the shelves as quickly as possible.
Currently the ORFID Book Conveyor Sortation Unit can organise items into thirty different categories (plus a miscellaneous dump bin). It is designed to fit the space available, in line with the clients' requirements.
